- Shaikh Saif awards Brigadier Ahmad Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan. Teams were honoured at the ‘Search and Rescue Conference: Realities and Challenges’ held yesterday.
Abu Dhabi Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Wednesday honoured search and rescue teams who participated in the search for the body of the late Shaikh Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who died in a glider plane crash in Morocco in 2010.
Shaikh Saif honoured the teams on the sidelines of the ‘Search and Rescue Conference: Realities and Challenges’, which began yesterday at the Abu Dhabi Police Officers’ club.

‘Love and dedication’
Shaikh Saif praised the efforts of the Spanish, American, Greek, French and Emirati teams which participated in the search operations.
“These efforts represent your love and dedication for your work,” said Shaikh Saif.
“What captured my attention were the skills and high efficiency you have shown in carrying out search operations that covered various areas.
“Anyone who witnessed the search operation would have thought that you are a team that had worked with one another for decades, which further proves that humanitarian work and its noble objectives remain the same, regardless of language or culture,” Shaikh Saif added.
‘Best service’
He urged them to continue to work collectively, strengthen their ties and increase the level of coordination between them in the best service of humanity.
Shaikh Saif also honoured the ambassadors of countries that participated in the search, the Moroccan Ambassador to the UAE, and representatives of Moroccan Police and Ministry of Interior.
Shaikh Ahmad Bin Zayed died in a plane crash in a Moroccan lake in March, 2010. His body was found four days after the crash.
