The holding in Morocco of the next meeting of the Friends of Syria group is a step forwards by the Kingdom as part of its commitment to the Syrian people, Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani said on Friday in Paris.The decision to host the upcoming conference is in line with the logic of Morocco’s commitment to Syria’s stability and unity and to halting violence against the Syrian people,” he told the press following the 3rd meeting by the Friends of Syria group, held in Paris.
The participants in the conference commended Morocco’s decision to host the fourth meeting of the Friends of Syria group.
El Otmani recalled that Morocco adopted clear positions since the outbreak of the crisis and is making huge efforts to find a solution.
“We assisted the Syrian refugees through the UNHCR and we are striving within the Arab League, the UNSC and the friend of Syria group to look for a political solution to this conflict,” he affirmed.
He said that the friend of Syria group has achieved an admirable work in assisting the Syrian people politically and morally, hailing the fact that the Paris meeting succeeded in bringing together over 100 countries and international organizations.
He hoped that Russia and China, which did not attend the Paris conference, return to the friends of Syria group.
