Morocco’s heritage sites attract 1.02 mln visitors in 4 months

Morocco’s heritage sites attracted about 1.02 million visitors in the first four months of 2019, the Moroccan Culture Ministry said Sunday.

Between January and April, the number of visitors to the Moroccan heritage sites increased 26 percent compared to the same period last year, according to a ministry statement.

Most of the visitors were attracted to three sites in Morocco, namely Archaeological Site of Volubilis near the northern city of Meknes with 640,131 people, Bahia Palace in the central city of Marrakech and Chellah necropolis in the capital Rabat with over 400,000 people each.
