GENEVA, Feb 26 (BERNAMA-NNN-MAP) — Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister Saad Dine El Otmani has expressed the kingdom’s deep concern regarding a lack of improvement in the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories as has been confirmed by reports of the United Nations Human Rights Council.

He said here Monday that Morocco’s King Mohammed VI, who chairs the Al-Quds (Palestine) Committee of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC), had reaffirmed the need to stop the demolitions in the holy city, which are targeting Islamic and Christian monuments.

These included archaeologically important places below the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings as well as demolitions at Bab Al Maghariba in the city which has a special place for believers of monotheistic religions, said El Otmani at the high-level segment of the 22nd session of the Council of Human Rights.

The Minister also reiterated the constant support of Morocco for a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, which will guarantee the legitimate rights of the Palestinians, particularly their right to a Palestinian State with Al-Quds as its capital.
