Dakar, Senegal – Morocco and Senegal have agreed to improve their bilateral economic cooperation by holding their 14th Joint Commission for Cooperation as soon as possible, a joint communiqué released on Tuesday in Dakar at the end of the five-day visit of Moroccan King Mohamed VI to Senegal.
The two leaders hailed the actions taken to reinforce the economic and commercial cooperation between Senegal and Morocco and instructed their respective delegations to speed up the holding of the next Joint Commission for Cooperation in a bid to enhance the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
During King Mohamed’s visit he and his host, President Macky Sall, signed an agreement to improve transportation of persons and goods as well as a protocol of agreement for mining, hydro-fuel, electricity and renewable energy.
Both leaders also agreed to soon sign a new agreement aimed at the establishment of a shipping line between Morocco and Senegal.
Regarding the social and economic development in Africa, the two heads of state agreed on the need to strengthen and diversify the intra-African cooperation in a spirit of solidarity.
They exhorted the international community to take adequate measures in a bid to help the African continent out of its current economic difficulties.
