Morocco, Russia Celebrate 60th Anniversary of their Diplomatic Ties

Morocco and Russia are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. To mark the event, the foreign ministers of the two countries have exchanged letters highlighting the “exemplary” character of their bilateral ties.

Morocco’s foreign minister Nasser Bourita and his Russian peer Sergey Lavrov have exchanged letters on this occasion underpinned by “strong friendship, mutual respect and multi-layered partnership.”

The two ministers voiced satisfaction at their excellent political dialogue marked by convergence of views on a range of regional and international issues, notably in the fields of security, peace and development in Africa.

They welcomed the steady development of economic and commercial ties.

The two ministers also reiterated their commitment to fostering Moroccan-Russian strategic partnership.

King Mohammed VI’s visit to Russia in 2016 has added momentum to bilateral ties yielding fruitful results as evidenced by the growth in Morocco’s exports to Russia.
