Amman – The Moroccan officials got the people’s message early and responded positively to it, away from any ostracism or contempt for calls for reforms. The Kingdom has thus produced its own model which is different from that of other countries of the “Arab Spring”, head of government Abdelilah Benkirane said.

He told Jordanian paper “Assabil”, on Tuesday, that this approach spared the Kingdom pointless damages since the population is calling only for stability and reforms.

He noted that the reforms announced in the royal speech of March 9, 2011, were bold and were followed by a new constitution and other positive steps which made organizing transparent and credible legislative elections possible.

Reiterating his attachment to freedom and refusal of any program imposed on the citizens and which will curb their freedom, the top official affirmed that the people “did not choose us because we are Islamists but because we believe in justice and will apply it.”

On Morocco’s economic issues, he deemed that the Kingdom’s main economic problem is not starting a new phase but establishing good governance and fighting corruption.
