The Moroccan King Mohammed VI urged Friday in Rabat for establishing a new economic development model in the North African country.

In a speech at the opening of the first session of the legislative year, the king said the new model should help the country “reduce gaps and disparities, achieve social and spatial justice and keep up with changes at home and abroad.”

The king said he has decided to set up a special committee whose mission will be to collect and sort out proposals and to draw conclusions therefrom, and he expected options for change and means for actual implementation.

“Morocco must be a country of opportunity, not of opportunists,” he stressed, adding that “all citizens should be given the same chance to serve their country, and all citizens must benefit, on an equal footing, from the country’s resources and from opportunities for growth.”
