London – Morocco has all the assets to be used as a hub for exporting into West Africa, said on Friday MPs speaking at a debate in the British Parliament.

“There is huge opportunity there, not only for trade with Morocco itself, but to use it as a hub for exporting into west Africa,” said Geoffrey Clifton-Brown, MP of the Conservative Party (in power), speaking at a debate on action of the UK Trade and Investment Department. He urged British investors to attach further interest to West Africa, a region which has had huge growth rates in the past few years.

Morocco, with its geographic position and its close relations with the region’s countries, can be used as an exporting hub for the British companies, said the MP.

“In particular, our banks should use the opportunities that they have through shareholdings in Morocco” to get into West Africa, said the UK deputy.

Clifton-Brown, who visited recently Morocco, said he wrote a note to Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change, Lord Jonathan Marland, on the opportunities for trade in Morocco.
