Seoul – Morocco is committed at the regional and international levels to a proactive multidimensional approach promoting nuclear security and countering all forms of terrorism, Foreign Minister said on Monday in Seoul.
“Morocco has always been advocating a proactive approach in the implementation of the objectives set by the nuclear summit and its plan of action while taking into account the effective measures to reinforce nuclear security at the national level in addition to regional and international cooperation,” El Otmani said at the opening of the Nuclear Security Summit.
Morocco’s strategy mirrors the vision of HM King Mohammed VI, who called for a proactive multidimensional approach to addresses the deep causes of terrorism through launching political, religious and cultural reforms and promoting human rights and human development, the Moroccan official said.
El Otmani, who represents HM the King in the high-level summit, said during the opening session on the evaluation of the progress made since Washington summit that new prospects are open now for peace and security.
“Nuclear and radiological terrorism are nit fiction, this is rather a plausible, global issue that is rapidly developing,” noted El Otmani, adding that fighting terrorism “requires an immediate coordinated action”.
On the occasion of the Seoul Summit, the Moroccan official stressed that it is high time to renew political commitment to nuclear security at the international level and to secure vulnerable nuclear material.
