The Moroccan Prime Minister Saad Eddine El Othmani and the European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs, Pierre Moscovici, pledged here on Thursday to broaden economic partnership between the two sides.

During their talks, the two parties highlighted the importance of working to update and broaden the Moroccan-European partnership and ensure a better implementation of the new European mechanisms under joint economic and development programs and projects, according to a statement by the Moroccan PM’s office.

The two officials also lauded the partnership between Morocco and the EU, the statement said, adding that the two sides “have overcome a series of obstacles while opening new horizons for their strategic partnership in several areas of socio-economic development.”

The talks also touched on the possibility of a tripartite partnership for the benefit of development and stability in Africa, the same source noted.
