The European Union has decided to allocate more than 385 million dirhams (35 million euros) to Morocco for the second phase of the SPRING programme.
This donation, according to the Enpi website (www.enpi-info.eu), should be devoted to projects linked to the democratic transformation and reinforcement of the institutions, as well as to sustainable and inclusive growth and economic development.
The SPRING Programme, with an overall budget of more than 500 million euros for the 2011-2013 period, aims at supporting the South Mediterranean partner countries in their democratic transition process and helping them meet the urgent socio-economic challenges that they are facing.
”This support shows that the European institutions have confidence in the Kingdom’s commitment to a process of democratization and reforms and acknowledge the significant progress in the partnership between the EU and Morocco”, said Rupert Joy, Head of the Delegation of the EU in Rabat. The previous SPRING allocation to Morocco amounted to 880 million dirhams and enabled the support to the National Council of Human Rights (CNDH)/Inter-ministerial delegation to human rights (DIDH), as well as rural health. It is also planned to fund three projects related to employment, literacy and support to the farm advisory strategy. (ANSAmed).
