Moroccan Communication Minister and government spokesman Mustapha El Khalfi has called on media organisations in Islamic countries to fight Islamophobia and support the Palestinian cause.

Speaking at the opening of the 10th Islamic Conference of Information Ministers in Tehran on Wednesday, he said the current situation called for reinforcing efforts to fight Islamophobia and to make sure that the United Nations took practical decisions against Islamophobia and hostile campaigns targeting Islam.

El Khalfi underlined the role of the media in supporting the Palestinian cause, and called on media organisations in member states of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC) to ensure that the sufferings of the Palestinian people are not overshadowed.

He recalled efforts by the OIC’s Al Quds Committee chaired by Morocco’s King Mohammed VI to defend the legitimate rights of Palestinians and preserve the Arab and Islamic identity of Al Quds.
