Rabat – Morocco called, on Saturday, for “return to the constitutional order” in Guinea-Bissau, following the attempted coup in this country last Thursday.
“Following the attempted coup in Guinea-Bissau, on April 12, 2012, and the detention of the acting president of the republic, Raimundo Pereira, and other political figures, the Kingdom of Morocco rejects this coup and calls for the return of the constitutional order,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Morocco supports “all ECOWAS initiatives and continues to follow with deep concern the developments in this country,” the statement added, saying that the Kingdom “reiterates its support for the completion of the electoral process in Guinea-Bissau.”
