The Moroccan police said Saturday that they have busted a new network of illegal migration.

During a police raid in the northern city of Tangier, two people linked to the network were arrested, the police said in a statement.

Eight people suspected of illegal migration, including six minors, were also arrested, the statement added.

The police also seized a car and equipments used in illegal migration, it noted.

The authorities launched an investigation into details of the case to reveal the links of the criminal network both inside and outside Morocco.

Morocco has seen a significant hike in illegal migration attempts this year.

According to the Moroccan Interior Ministry, authorities have foiled some 68,000 illegal immigration attempts between January and September.

During the same period, Morocco also dismantled 122 illegal migration networks, up from some 70 networks in 2017.
