Moroccan Police Seize 1.65 Tons of Cocaine in 2018

Moroccan police have seized 1.65 tons of cocaine in 2018, down from the record 2.8 tons in 2017, according to official statistics released on Tuesday.

Anti-drug and psychotropic operations have resulted also in the seizure of 1.3 million hallucinogenic psychotropic tablets and ecstasy, a 43-percent increase from 2017, found the annual statistics released by the Moroccan National Police.

The statistics also showed that 52 tons of chira, or hashish, and 693 kilograms of cannabis have been seized this year.

As part of its efforts to combat illegal migration, the Moroccan police have arrested 603 organizers of illegal migration operations, sharply up from 294 in 2017.
