Geneva – A Moroccan high-level delegation held on Friday in Geneva a follow-up meeting with the UN special rapporteur on torture, Juan Mendez, who had visited Morocco in 2012.

The UN official told MAP he is closely following up the implementation of recommendations contained in his report compiled following the visit to Morocco.
The Moroccan officials presented Mendez with documents related to the follow up of remarks made in the report.
He added that he will also meet with the task group on arbitrary detention which will visit Morocco next December.
The meeting is part of constructive and constant interaction between the UN competent mechanisms, in accordance with Morocco’s approach in following up recommendations by various organizations.
