Algiers – Upon Very High instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, an important Moroccan delegation led by Abdelilah Benkirane, Head of Government, visited on Friday Algiers to attend the funeral of former President Ahmed Ben Bella.
Upon its arrival in Algiers, the delegation visited the People’s Palace in Algiers where they observed a minute’s silence at the grave of the late president. The delegation, later, attended the luncheon hosted by the Algerian authorities in honor of the delegations from Morocco, Tunisia, led by the President of the Republic of Tunisia, Moncef Marzouki, and Mauritania, led by Prime Minister Moulay Ould Mohamed Lakdaf
Subsequently, the Moroccan delegation visited Al Alia cemetery where the burial of the remains took place. Once there, the Moroccan delegation realized the official presence of a polisario delegation led by Mohamed Abdelaziz. In this situation, the Moroccan delegation left immediately, before returning to Algiers airport where it was greeted as it arrived by Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahya.
