Maroc Telecom’s operations in Morocco posted a 2 percent decline in revenues for the first half ended 30 June to MAD 10.44 billion, hit by a decrease in mobile revenues of 7.6 percent in a market under continued price pressure. This decrease was partially offset by the strong performance of fixed line and internet activities, which grew by 9.0 percent year-on-year.
EBITDA amounted to MAD 5.78 billion, down 4.1 percent from the same period in 2014. The EBITDA margin was down 0.12 percent to 55.4 percent, amid controlled interconnection costs and a 1.1 percent decrease in operating costs.
Mobile customers decreased by 0.5 percent to 18.0 million year-on-year. The 1.1 percent decline in the prepaid customer base due to the ban on the sale of pre-actived prepaid SIM cards by regulatory authorities was partially offset by the 7.4 percent increase in the number of post-paid customers taking advantage of enriched offers of calling time, SMS and data. ARPU was MAD 63.5, down 5.2 percent compared with the same period in 2014.
