HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection, met on Sunday in Nagoya (center of Japan) with UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova, on the sidelines of her participation as guest of honor in UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) slated on Nov. 10-12 in Japan.

The choice of HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa as guest of honor is natural given that Her Royal Highness is very attached to issues of the environment, education, and the protection of biodiversity and sustainable development in general, said Bokova in a statement to MAP after her meeting with HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa.

Bokova, who said that she was impressed by action undertaken by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection in favor of education for environment and sustainable development, noted that the Foundation has already given many examples testifying to its action in favor kids’ and pupils’ education and undertook projects outside Morocco in partnership with UN agencies.

UNESCO head also hailed the positive cooperation between the UN body and Morocco, mainly its close collaboration with the ministry of national education and vocational training.

The meetings was attended by minister of national education and vocational training Rachid Belmokhtar, president delegate of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection Lahoucine Tijani, and Morocco’s ambassador to Japan Samir Arrour.
