Rabat  –  Minister of Housing, Town Planning and Urban Policy Nabil Benabdellah said, on Monday in Rabat, that his department is determined to reinvigorate the “Cities without Slums” program” through diversifying and promoting the housing offer.

Speaking to MPs at the Lower House, Benabdellah said that the ministry will reinvigorate this program which targets 340,000 families in line with an approach based on promoting and diversifying the offer.

The Minister shed light on the achievements of this program which has so far benefited 178,000 households. In the meanwhile, he noted the existence of some black spots in Casablanca and Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer.

Benabdellah added that 44 of the 85 cities covered by the program were declared without slums, noting that the lack of real estate and the large number of families living in slums remain the main barriers to achieving better results.
