Royal Air Maroc launches new freighter service from FRA – Cargo carrier to offer twice-weekly service to Casablanca, operated with B737-F aircraft –Upgrade to B767-F planned from the first quarter of 2018

FRA – Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomes its latest cargo carrier: Royal Air Maroc. Since early November, the airline has been operating a B737-F from Frankfurt to Casablanca twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays. In the first quarter of 2018, the airline intends to switch over to a B767-F, thus significantly increasing capacity. Over the next couple of years, the airline also plans to deploy two more freighter aircraft from FRA. Founded in 1957, Royal Air Maroc is Morocco’s leading airline. The company’s cargo division currently transports around 25,000 metric tons of freight every year. The airline’s passenger division has been flying from Frankfurt for many years.

Felix Kreutel, SVP Cargo at Fraport AG, said: “Royal Air Maroc’s extensive network of routes to Africa and South America opens up new and interesting connections to these markets for our customers. The South American market is currently experiencing above-average growth, after a period of prolonged recession. Royal Air Maroc offers us the opportunity to participate in this growth.”

Royal Air Maroc is the 29th cargo carrier operating from FRA – Europe’s largest airport in terms of cargo tonnage. Some 22,000 freighter flights are handled at FRA yearly. Thanks to its extensive network of destinations, Frankfurt Airport was recently recognized again as the airport with the best ‘total hub connectivity’.
