PARIS, March 17 (KUNA) — French officials said on Monday said that Paris would look favourably on proposed judicial reforms announced by Morocco as they aim to reinforce the rule of law in that country in line with constitutional reforms that were adopted in 2011.
Morocco has announced that it aims to end the jurisdiction of military courts over civilians in what would be a major progress in moving towards international standards for the judiciary.
“This is a draft law which aims to reinforce the rule of law,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal said of the proposed Moroccan legislation.
“If it was definitively adopted, this would represent a new step forward in the coherence with the reforms undertaken since the adoption of the Constitution of 2011,” the official added. (end) jk.mt KUNA 171849 Mar 14NNNN
