The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Bangladesh has launched a probe into assets of former inspector general of police Nur Mohammad, currently Bangladesh’s ambassador to Morocco, an ACC spokesman said yesterday.
“We are now conducting a probe into the assets of Nur,” Faizur Rahman Chowdhury said. “He (Nur) earlier submitted asset details of over taka 15.8mn to the commission in response to a notice served on him,” he said. Under the ACC law, the statutory graft body launches inquiries into corruption only on the basis of allegations lodged by identified or unidentified persons or organisations. Meanwhile, the ACC yesterday interrogated detained Hallmark Group managing director Tanvir Mahmud and general manager Tushar Ahmed on loan scandal.
