In a press release, the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) welcomed the various distinctions won by “Whatever if animals die”, this short film, which was the only Moroccan film to have participated in the international competition of the festival. Sundance in January-February 2020.
The film also participated in the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in February 2020, before participating in the Tangier National Film Festival held in February-March 2020, then at the International Short Film Festival of Sao Paolo in August 2020, and at the Namur International Francophone Film Festival in October 2020. A meteoric rise for the film which has just been nominated by the Academy of Oscars in the category of best short film to be held in April 2021 .
“What does it matter if the animals die?” Tells in the Amazigh language the story of Abdellah, a young shepherd and his father, who helplessly witness the death of their animals in the high mountains of the Atlas.
