Independent exploration and production company Sound Energy announced Wednesday the completion of a test well in a Moroccan gas basin, Kallanish Energy understands.
The well brought hydrocarbon gas to the surface from within the primary shallow zone without stimulation or artificial lift, in the onshore Great Tendrara area.
The next phase involves mechanical stimulation to the most prospective zones to establish potential commercial flow rates of gas. Estimates are between 1.5 million cubic feet of gas per day (Mmcf/d) to 2 Mmcf/d.
The company said last week it received a non-binding offer from the Moroccan Ministry of Energy and Mines to sell all gas coming from the Tendrara area to Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau Potable, the state power company, beginning in 2022.
