Now that Morocco’s constitutional forms have been enacted the world waits to see what the practical effects of implementation will be – whether the reforms will actually lead to significant democratic gains or will be principally symbolic. Morocco’s Foreign Ministry also reports that of a total of 255,783 votes cast by Moroccans living abroad, 96.05% of those ballots were in favor of the new constitution. Despite overwhelming support of the constitution there were protests in several cities across the country staged by activists seeking deeper changes.
