Rabat – The International Executive Committee of the World Alliance for Citizen Participation (CIVICUS) has chosen Morocco for the holding in 2013 the 12th “World Assembly of Civil Society”.
According to a CIVICUS statement, the 11th meeting, scheduled for September 2012 will be held in Montreal, and in 2013, the 2,000 participants at this meeting, representing NGOs from all continents, will travel to Essaouira.
In this context, the Steering Committee of the alliance, co-chaired by André Azoulay, the Founder President of the Association Essaouira-Mogador, and Driss Guerraoui, National Coordinator of the Young Moroccans Forum for the Third Millennium, will hold its first meeting in Morocco on 23, 24 and 25 April 2012.
CIVICUS is an international movement with members and partners in over 100 countries. Founded in 1993, CIVCUS seeks to promote the emergence, development and protection of citizen action, as well as participatory democracy and freedom of association.
It also aims to strengthen effective and sustainable citizen participation, by boosting the right of association and expression and dialogue between the social sectors.
