SAXAPAHAW — Jonas Gerard will be the featured artist at SaxArt Gallery throughout the month of November. An accomplished self-taught artist, he was born in Morocco and now resides in Asheville and has one of the largest private studios in the River Arts District.
An opening reception will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. at the gallery, 1616 Jordan Drive and the artwork will remain on display through Nov. 30.
Gerard’s 50-year artistic career includes a Presidential Honor in 1975 for his bicentennial painting “We Are The People” and inclusion in collections from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. to Miami Beach’s Bass Museum of Art.
