According to Lesiteinfo, the Carrefour group is about to acquire BIM in Morocco. A big shot in perspective, knowing that BIM weighs 4% of the volume of trade with 2.5 billion-turnover and while Carrefour is 8 billion.

With this acquisition, “if it is confirmed”, the Carrefour group, after absorbing Atacadao and recovering 100% of the sale of alcohol in the modern trade, will exceed Marjanne in terms of weight and profitability.

BIM has been in Morocco since 2007 and has more than 400 stores. Carrefour has 9, Carrefour Market 52 and Atacadao 10. Marjanne has 36 stores in Morocco ahead of Acima (45) and Asswak Assalam (15).
