The Ministry of Economy will complete Romania’s Strategy for Export in May 2013, the objectives including trade expansion in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa, with Morocco as a strategic point for business development in Sub-Saharan Africa, Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian told AGERPRES on Wednesday.
The Romanian official official is paying a visit to Morocco, on April 23-24, 2013.
‘Romania’s Strategy for Export will be finalized in May 2013, as for the part the Ministry of Economy is in charge of. The document will be made available to the Ministry of Large Projects and to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and afterwards is going to be integrated in the Strategy of Romania’s Re-industrialization’, said Varujan Vosganian.
The official stressed that, in May 2013, official meetings will be held dedicated to expanding trade in Africa, Latin America and South-East Asia.
‘In May 2013, we will have special meetings for trade expansion in Africa, Latin America and South-East Asia. Morocco is also an important, strategic area, through which we can expand the Romanian trade and investments to Sub-Saharan Africa’, Varujan Vosganian pointed out.
The visit to Morocco by the Romanian official has diplomatic and economic diplomacy objectives.
‘The diplomacy side of the visit to Morocco is supported by the meeting with Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane, whom I’ll convey the message sent by the Romanian Prime Minister, Victor Ponta. We will also invite the head of the Moroccan Government to pay an official visit to Romania, this year ‘, Varujan Vosganian said.
During the official visit to Morocco, the Minister of Economy has a series of meetings with his counterparts, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and New Technologies, Abdelkader Aamara, Minister of Economy and Finance Nizar Baraka, as well as Minister of Agriculture and Sea Fisheries in the Moroccan Government Aziz Akhannouch.
On Wednesday, Minister Varujan Vosganian is a guest of honor, alongside His Majesty the King of Morocco, at the official opening ceremony of the International Fair of Agriculture of Meknes, the most important event of its kind in the Mediterranean.
‘Romania participates in this national event with a national pavilion that brings together dozens of Romanian businessmen. Our intention is to develop the commercial relations between the two countries, which amounted to nearly 500 million dollars. Our exports have been rising lately, and the balance of trade was positive for us’, Vosganian noted.
The main areas for the Romanian exports to Morocco are the manufacturing industry, automotive, spare parts.
‘We want to add to the positive trade balance Romania’s investments in Morocco. The main areas where the Romanian expertise can be exported are the automotive, aeronautics sectors. The Moroccan side is interested in working with Aerostar and Romaero. We can also enter the Moroccan market for electrical and electro-technical devices’, the Minister of Economy also said.
