French renewable power plants operator Voltalia SA (EPA:VLTS) said on Friday it is acquiring Moroccan renewables developer Alterrya Maroc along with its 285-MW project portfolio.
The Moroccan business owns wind projects with a combined capacity of 185 MW and solar schemes totalling 100 MW. They are at various stages of development, from the most preliminary to most advanced, Voltalia said, adding that it expects first construction works to begin within the next two years.
The company did not mention how much it paid as part of the takeover.
Earlier this year, Voltalia filed applications for four hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 40 MW, a 2-MW solar scheme and a 105-MW wind development in Morocco.
Overall, Voltalia develops, owns and operates renewable power plants representing a total installed capacity of 376 MW. It is present in France, Brazil, Greece, French Guiana and Morocco.
