WASHINGTON, Nov 28 (KUNA) — The United States congratulates Morocco for holding parliamentary elections that drew massive turnout, the State department said Monday
“We would like to congratulate the millions of Moroccans who did exercise their right ot vote in Morocco’s parliamentary elections,” State department spokesman Mark Toner told reporters.
Parliamentary election results showed a victory of the Islamist party, the Justice and Development Party.
Toner said the US is paying close attention to how the party operates and its governance, but noted that it does not matter what a particular party is called, but “what it does and whether it operated according to democratic standards.” (end)
