UNITED NATIONS, March 6 (KUNA) — The Security Council’s permanent members and Morocco, on behalf of the Arab League on Tuesday began discussing the US draft resolution it circulated a week ago on the crisis in Syria.

“We have just begun today preliminary discussions among the permanent five members of the Security Council plus Morocco about whether there is any possibility of reaching agreement around a potential text that would demand an end to the violence in Syria and demand immediate humanitarian access,” US Ambassador Susan Rice said in a statement.
These discussions, she added, are just beginning and will continue.
She indicated that “If and when, it seems there is a basis for a meaningful and viable text, we will propose one to the full Security Council.” Moscow yesterday rejected the draft as unbalaned and similar to the one it vetoed last month along with China.
They also vetoed a related draft last October. (end) sj.bs KUNA 070029 Mar 12NNNN
