HUGE steps are being taken towards a unified GCC currency, Customs and market, revealed GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani at a Press conference last night.
He said “progress has been made” and the results of talks would be presented to leaders at the GCC Summit in Manama next month.
“We have a joint plan approved for the GCC unified currency, Customs and market and it’s currently going through normal evolvement,” he said.
Dr Al Zayani added the GCC was seeking stronger co-operation with Morocco and Jordan, which is why their foreign ministers attended the 125th Preparatory Session for the GCC Ministerial Council yesterday.
“We are very optimistic that we could gain a lot from both countries,” he said.
“Benefits that we aim for range from agriculture and food security, education, telecommunications, transportation and even enhancing our military co-operation.
“We have work teams and in five years, we hope that our ambitious plans will be implemented.”
