Ukraine’s grain exports rose 17 percent to 1.21 million tonnes in June 1-20 from 1.03 million tonnes exported in the same period in May, analyst ProAgro said on Monday. It said the volume included 238,440 tonnes of wheat, 831,450 tonnes of maize and 120,600 tonnes of barley. ProAgro said Ukraine exported its wheat mostly to Egypt (100,000 tonnes).
Ukrainian maize went to Spain (155,290 tonnes), Egypt (164,000 tonnes), Iran, Oman, Portugal and other countries. Ukraine exported barley to Saudi Arabia (70,300 tonnes), Algeria and Morocco. The consultancy said an additional 104,800 tonnes of maize could be exported in the near future. ProAgro said the former Soviet republic had exported more than 12.0 million tonnes of maize, 5.2 million tonnes of wheat and 2.35 million tonnes of barley so far this season. Ukraine harvested 56.7 million tonnes of grain in 2011 and plans to export about 21 million tonnes of grain in the 2011/12 season.
