Tunisia: OIC Summit – Govt Requests That Issue of Violence Suffered By Muslim Minority in Burma’s Myanmar Be On Agenda

Tunis — Tunisia requested that the issue of the violence suffered by the Muslim minority in Myanmar, Burma, be included on the agenda of works of the upcoming summit of the heads of State and government of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation (OIC), to be held on August 14-15 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

This Tunisian request, presented on Friday in Geneva, during the co-ordination meeting of the OIC permanent representatives to the United Nations Organisation, earned the support of several Arab and Islamic countries, notably Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Iran, Sudan, says a press release from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, on Friday.

Tunisia calls on the international community to act and find, under the most suitable conditions, a settlement that puts an end to this violence which victimises the Muslim minority, preserves its rights as part of a context of security, stability and concord among the different social classes.
