Tribes of Morocco Shop Opens at 47 Delancey

When it comes to Lower East Side storefront diversity, the south side of Delancey between Forsyth and Eldridge is definitely a leading contender. Anchored on the corner by the iconic, albeit deteriorating Templo Adventista del Septimo, the block boasts a healthy mix of commercial and retail tenants. From west to east, there’s Blacktree Fabrics, the nascent vegan (and kosher) eatery Little Lad’s, a church thrift shop, laundromat, and Marly Building Supply.

Yet the middle store at 47A Delancey has remained dormant ever since Da Guang Ming Sign moved across the thoroughfare last summer. After the relocation, the imposing yellow awning was pried from the facade and leasing signs placed in the windows.  We can now report that a replacement business has been found. A colorful touch of Moroccan flavor.

Tribes of Morocco just opened inside the split-storefront at 47A Delancey, and specializes in a variety of Middle-Eastern products including pottery, woodworks, rugs, and, yes, hookahs.
