A Lacock couple are taking part in a mammoth 4,000m trek up Mount Toubkal in Morocco, to raise funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Steve and Gayle King, of Folly Row, flew out on Monday, before setting up base camp and starting the endurance challenge on Tuesday.

The Kings, who have two sons, Blake, four, and Spencer, one, are part of a group of 16 people raising money for the charity.

Mrs King said: “We are really pleased to be doing something to help Wiltshire Air Ambulance and we’ve tried our best to balance fundraising and getting fit.”

So far, they have raised about £5,000 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance appeal – smashing their original target of £3,000 – through a series of events, but Mrs King said they would welcome more donations.

Mr King was saved by the charity when he had an accident at Wick Farm, in Lacock, which his family run, around 10 years ago. The injury resulted in his left foot being amputated.

The couple, who are expected to return home this weekend, thanked donors including businesses such as Melksham Tyre Supplies and Embroidery UK.
