A total of 1.59 million tourists visited Morocco in the first two months of 2019, up 7.6 percent year on year, Morocco’s Tourism Ministry said Thursday.
The number of foreign tourists rose by 9 percent, while the arrivals of Moroccans living abroad climbed 5 percent in the first two months, showed the statistics released by the ministry.
The growth was mainly driven by the continued rise in the tourists from the traditional European markets.
Specifically, the statistics showed an increase of 12 percent in French tourist arrivals, 11 percent for Italian tourists, 10 percent for British tourists, and 9 percent for Spanish tourists.
In 2018, 12.28 million tourists visited Morocco, up 8.3 percent from 2017.
