TAIPEI–The Taiwanese movie “Touch of the Light,” which was screened at the opening of the 12th Marrakech International Film Festival in Morocco Saturday, earned applause from the 1,500 sellout audience.
“It’s an honor to be selected as the opening film at the film gala and I am pleased to receive positive feedback about the film,” said the director, Chang Jung-Chi.
He also expressed gratitude for the audience’s support because it was the first time he had face-to-face contact with an audience in Europe or Africa.
“Touch of the Light,” which stars Taiwanese-French actress Sandrine Pinna, is about a girl who dreams of becoming a dancer and develops a friendship with a blind musician.
The movie, which recently won the best new director award at Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards, has been nominated with 14 other international movies from around the world in the categories of best film, best director, best actor and best actress.
The award ceremony will be held Dec. 8.
