The Portland Timbers didn’t make the MLS playoffs, but three of the team’s players will soon be back on the pitch for some international matchups.
Midfielder James Marcelin, defender Steve Purdy and forward Brian Umony have each been called up to play for their national teams.
Marcelin is expected to leave today to join the other members of the Haiti National Team as they prepare to take on Antigua and Barbuda in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Steve Purdy will also participate in two World Cup qualifying matches when the El Salvador National Team faces off with Suriname.
Both players’ respective qualifying games have been scheduled for Friday, November 11 and Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Meanwhile, Brian Umony and the rest of the Uganda National Team will take part in a friendly, four-nation tournament being held Nov. 11-13.

The the other competitors lined up for the Nation LG Cup include the national teams from Cameroon, Sudan and host-nation Morocco.
