The Ministry of Foreign Trade hails UAE-Morocco economic ties

WAM Abu Dhabi, Oct 26th, 2011 (WAM)–The Ministry of Foreign Trade stressed the strength of economic and trade relations between the UAE and Morocco in the light of agreements and memoranda of understanding in the areas of trade, investment and economic and technical cooperation.

According to a study on the UAE-Morocco economic and trade relations, released by the ministry today, “Non oil foreign trade between the UAE and Morocco grew from 1999- 2010 as the UAE imports from Morocco surged $6.8 million in 1999 to reach $220 million in 2010”.

It added that the UAE non oil exports to Morocco stood at $123.7 million in 2010 compared to $2.5million in 1999, while the re-exportation from the UAE to Morocco was $73.8 million in 2008; it reached $55.9 million in 2010.

The study show that the total UAE exports to Morocco increased by $120 million in 2010 at the growth rate of 16 per cent compared to 2009.

Morocco ranks 49th in the list of the UAE foreign trade.
