Rabat – The Draft resolution submitted by Morocco to the UNSC on the Syrian issue offers “prospects for solution” to remedy the country’s situation of crisis, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé said on Wednesday.

“Violence must stop. There are prospects for solution with the plan elaborated by the Arab League. We are in favor of the resolution submitted by Morocco,” Juppé told radio channel Medi I.

He added that “the most important thing is that the Security Council breaks its silence. What is happening is unacceptable. Even children are slaughtered and repression is worsening by the day.”

Negotiations on this draft resolution will continue in the days to come to see “if we can reach a consensus,” the minister affirmed, calling to put more pressure on the Syrian regime to get it “to evolve and negotiate.”

Juppé took part, on Tuesday in New York, in the UNSC’s meeting on the situation in Syria, along with American, British, Guatemalan, and Portuguese peers, in addition to the German vice-Foreign Minister Michael Link.

Morocco was represented at the event by Minister Delegate to the Foreign minister Youssef Amrani.
