International campaign presented in Istanbul

(ANSAmed) – ANKARA, APRIL 6 – The organisations that participate in the announced international awareness campaign for the struggle of the Syrian people against the Syrian regime include several associations in the Middle East and Mediterranean area.

This became clear from a statement issued on the sidelines of yesterday’s presentation press conference in Istanbul. The text mentions the Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE), associations in Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany, the Palestinian Assembly for the Syrian Revolution in Gaza, the Islamic Movement in Palestine, the Association of Islamic Students in Lebanon, the Kuwaiti Association for Social Reform and the Moroccan Coalition for the Syrian Revolution. The statement, read yesterday by the general coordinator of the gInternational Campaign in Support of the Syrian People, Bassam Abdullah Dwaihi, underlines that the list is not complete.

A statement, confirming news that was reported earlier by ANSAmed, stresses that the international campaign aims to “reveal the suffering of this country’s people inside and outside Syria, to “mobilise international support” for the Syrian cause and to ask for “international protection” for the Syrian people. The initiative wants to “arm the Free Syrian Army (FSA), preventing the eruption of a civil war, to allow humanitarian aid and the media to enter Syria and to collect donations for the Syrian people. The “main platform” of the campaign includes the International Union for Muslim Scholars, the Syrian National Council (SNC), Al-Azhar and IHH Universities, in addition to other political and media personalities.” (ANSAmed).
