Soyuzneftegaz Interested In Oil Exploration In Morocco Offshore Shelf

The Russian oil and gas group Soyuzneftegaz is interested in obtaining offshore license for oil exploration and development in the territorial waters at the continental shelf of Kingdom of Morocco, according to press release after meeting of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and King of Morocco Mohammed VI.

During the meeting was discussed possible licensing for offshore exploration of the Russian group, as well as investments in projects in oil and energy industries. The group of Soyuzneftegaz is engaged in projects for exploration and development of offshore fields during the search and assessment stage.

After the meeting between Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and King of Morocco Mohammed VI became clear that Moroccan authorities are ready to provide significant preferences of Russian companies in the implementation of the construction of the LNG terminal project in the east part of the country.

Soyuzneftegaz is oil and gas company, which is headed by Russia’s former energy minister Yuri Shafranik. The company was working interests in Syria, Iraq and Uzbekistan, as well as exploration of deposits in Russia. The main shareholder in Soyuzneftegaz is the Central Bank of Russia.
