Germany’s Marcel Siem hit two eagles in an eight-under-par 64 to lead the Hassan II Trophy after round one in Morocco.

The German, who also picked up five birdies, finished strongly on the Golf du Palais Royal course in Agadir, earning a three-stroke lead.

Alvaro Velscao, who shot a 67, including four birdies on the back nine, lies second.

Behind the Spaniard is an English trio of David Horsey, Graeme Storm and Simon Wakefield, all on 68.

Horsey won the tournament in 2011 and showed championship form again by hitting six birdies.

Wakefield also had six birdies, while Storm had an eagle the penultimate hole before bogeying the 18th.
