The Service Club of Chicago evoked the glamour and elegance of the 1940s during its A Night at the El Morocco gala on Nov. 4 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago.

The 430 guests dressed the part, donning chic and dapper attire that was reminiscent of the era. The ballroom was transformed with zebra banquettes and tall vases of white calla lilies and palm trees with accents of zebra print and royal blue throughout the room.

Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini, co-hosts of “Windy City LIVE” on WLS-Channel 7, welcomed the guests with a detailed explanation of the mission of the Service Club and then introduced President Sherrill Bodine.

Jim Karas handled the blaze of paddles during the live auction, which included a private dinner cruise in Naples, an Ireland trip, a South African photo safari and a prized puppy.

Shelley MacArthur Farley made a special appearance and performed a stunning selection of songs. The Ken Arlan Orchestra capped the night, filling the dance floor from start to finish.

The event raised $250,000; all proceeds will be distributed as grants in 2012 to deserving organizations and charities to supplement government or corporate grants.

The Service Club of Chicago is a charitable organization of women that has continually served the welfare, civic, educational and cultural needs of Chicago and the surrounding communities since 1890.
