Moroccan Americans: On Citizenship and Flying Home
The discussions aired on the status of the Moroccan American community, with agreements & disagreements expressed in a civil manner, are encouraging.
The response to the call to organize a group in North America to prospect the initiation of communication with Royal Air Maroc on the issues of concern to the Moroccan Community.
The quality of the respondents is encouraging as reflected by their serious and rich experiences and occupations.
We are in a good position to initiate talks with all the stakeholders when it relates to reducing the cost burden of air travel and improving the service between Morocco and the US.
The Moroccan community in North America sends to Morocco a large part of its earnings adding to the billions of dollars “les Marocains du Monde” send home annually. The Moroccan Community in North America should be entitled to entering into a “Contract Program” with the Moroccan Government and Royal Air Maroc. Many associations, NGOs, and private sector companies enter into contract programs by which the government supports certain activities of the aforementioned entities. Why not the Moroccan American community in North America which contributes to the economy by its transfer of hard currency funds ?
Who are the stakeholders in the “Contract Program:”
The Moroccan Ministry of the Moroccan Community Abroad
The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Moroccan Ministry of Transportation
The Moroccan Ministry of Finance
Le Conseil de la Concurrence
The National Moroccan Tourism Office
Royal Air Maroc
Delta Airlines
Travel Agencies and Tour Operators working with Morocco
The Representatives of the Moroccan Community in North America
The House of Morocco in North America in Montreal
Les Marocains du Monde
a group of volunteers who are interested in taking this project to its fruition. What better place than Washington, DC to hold a one day conference in which each one of the above mentioned institutions can provide information and knowledge on their role in making this “Contract Program” a viable one. This conference which could be co-sponsored by all the stakeholders . A clearinghouse community service provider should be allowed to use this clearinghouse as the platform to communicate electronically between members of the small group who are interested in this project and the Moroccan Community in North America at large.
Those who are interested in this worthwhile project should begin by announcing their name and their email so that we can begin the process of communicating with each other to develop an organizational strategy to get started. We all have so much to contribute and we should do so. I know you want to do so. I can read it daily in your post and comments. Let us do this first one. There are more projects to come.
