Retaj Hotels Qatar has won the first place for ‘Uniqueness Tourism 2012’ and earned ‘The best tourist destination for an Arab family’ honour awarded by the Arabian Centre for Media Tourism, under the sponsorship of Arab League.
After “fierce” competition from different Arabian companies, finalists were limited to five countries – Qatar, UAE, Egypt, Jordan and Morocco.
The committee members visited tourism and heritage attractions in these countries and Retaj earned the top honour.
“Retaj’s strategy from first day was to work according to the Arab and Arab Gulf traditions – small details make Retaj the best place for the Arab family,” Retaj said.
A Retaj delegation headed by executive director (marketing and project management) Hashim al-Awadhi travelled to Cairo with Ahmad al-Habash acting on behalf of the company delegation, and Ahmed Khorsheed, general manager of one of Retaj hotels, to receive the prize.
Al-Awadhi said: “The prize did not come for nothing … it is the achievement of all our efforts, based on our values and the traditions.
The Arabian Centre for Media Tourism was founded in 2008 in Egypt under the sponsorship of the Arab League to build a tourism base in the Arab world and encourage the development of the tourism industries and has branches in Saudi, Lebanon, Kuwait and UAE.
